Naviate BioScore: More Detailed Results and Smarter Design Comparisons

The latest improvements to Naviate BioScore provide clearer insights across units, buildings, sites, and design proposals. With improved daylight calculations and new result breakdown and comparison capabilities, teams can better understand design performance while alternatives are still flexible.

Improved Daylight Calculation

The daylight calculation height has been increased from 0.1 m to 0.762 m (30 inches)
to better handle terrain-related edge cases and prevent incorrect zero daylight results.

Previously, the calculation plane could fall below the terrain, causing an entire ground floor to incorrectly receive zero daylight potential. The increased height now includes these edge cases and produces a more representative result.

The change also brings BioScore closer into alignment with the indoor daylight analysis in Autodesk Forma Building Design.

Key benefits:

  • Better handling of ground floors that intersect with terrain
  • Reduced risk of incorrect zero daylight results
  • More representative daylight potential scores
  • Closer alignment with Forma Building Design indoor daylight analysis

BioScore Unit Results Breakdown

BioScore results can now be explored at the individual unit level.

Users can move from the overall building result to the units contributing to it and review their performance across daylight, views, acoustic comfort, and material choices.

This additional detail makes it easier to identify performance differences within a building and understand what is driving the overall BioScore.

Key benefits:

  • Review results for individual units
  • Identify high- and low-performing units
  • Explore performance across each BioScore category
  • Understand how unit results contribute to the building score

Site-Level, Multi-Building BioScore Analysis

BioScore can now analyse multiple buildings as part of one site or proposal.

Users receive an overall site-level result and can expand the proposal to review the performance of each building. This provides a clear overview while preserving access to the building-level details behind the score.

Key benefits:

  • Review one BioScore for the complete site
  • Expand results to individual buildings
  • Compare category performance across buildings
  • Identify which buildings are driving the site-level result

Multiple-Proposal BioScore Analysis

Users can now select multiple Autodesk Forma Site Design proposals and include them in one BioScore comparison.

The selection workflow shows available proposals, the number of buildings in each proposal, and their analysis status. This makes it easier to choose analysed alternatives and bring them into a common comparison.

Key benefits:

  • Select multiple design proposals
  • Check analysis status before comparison
  • See the number of buildings in each proposal
  • Compare alternative site and building configurations

Proposal Comparison

The new Compare Proposals view presents selected design alternatives side by side.

Proposals are ranked by their overall BioScore and compared across views, daylight, acoustic comfort, and material choices. Users can choose a baseline proposal and immediately see where other alternatives perform higher or lower.

The best values are highlighted, while proposals can be expanded to reveal the building-level results behind their overall scores. This helps teams understand both the strengths and trade-offs of each alternative.

Key benefits:

  • Rank proposals by overall BioScore
  • Compare category scores side by side
  • Select and change the comparison baseline
  • See differences from the baseline
  • Highlight the best result in each category
  • Expand proposals to review building-level performance

More Insight at Every Level

Together, these improvements provide a more detailed and transparent BioScore workflow:

Proposal → Site → Building → Floor → Unit → Analysis category

Teams can now understand not only which design performs best, but also why it performs well and where further improvements can be made.

By making performance differences easier to identify and communicate, BioScore supports more informed design decisions at an early stage.
