Vertical Cable Tray Routing
Have you struggled modeling Cable Trays in a wall-mounted orientation?
Revit by default does not have a simple functionality to route Cable Tray in a wall or vertical surface-mounted orientation. Vertical Cable Tray Routing allows you to route Cable Trays in this orientation in both 3D Views and Plan Views.

Figure 0
The command can be split into two (2) workflows:
- Routing Vertical Cable Tray in a 3D View
- Routing Vertical Cable Tray in a Plan View
Routing Vertical Cable Tray in a 3D View

Figure 1
Steps, referencing Figure 1:
- Click the Vertical Cable Tray Routing button.
- Select a Cable Tray Type that will be the basis for any Cable Tray Routings that are modeled. Listed in this dropdown are the loaded Cable Tray System Family Types that are loaded in the current Revit model.
- Select the 'Place on Face' placement option in the Modify palette.
- When using "Vertical CT Routing" in 3D Views, 'Place on Work Plane' is NOT recommended. This Placement option does function when trying to model Cable Tray in an unhosted manner, but unexpected results could appear that could be improved in a future Naviate release.
- Enter the desired Cable Tray Options within Revit's Options Bar.
- The following Cable Tray Options are available:
- Width
- Height
- Middle Elevation
- Insert Elbows (see Step 8)
- Offset
- The following Cable Tray Options are available:
- Click to enter Cable Tray component start point.
- Click to enter Cable Tray component end point.
- Repeat Step 5 and 6 until finished modeling. Press Esc to exit the command.
- With the 'Insert Elbows' Option checked, the Cable Tray Types Elbow Family will be inserted and connected to two (2) segments of Cable Tray whose connectors share the same XYZ location (within 3'-0").
Routing Vertical Cable Tray in a Plan View

Figure 2
Steps, referencing Figure 2:
- Click the Vertical Cable Tray Routing button.
- Select a Cable Tray Type that will be the basis for any Cable Tray Routings that are modeled. Listed in this dropdown are the loaded Cable Tray System Family Types that are loaded in the current Revit model.
- Select the 'Place on Work Plane' placement option in the Modify palette.
- When using "Vertical CT Routing" in Plan Views, 'Place on Face' is NOT recommended. This Placement option does not allow you to select Wall faces in Plan View, thus rendering not a useful option. This functionality could be improved in a future Naviate release.
Continuous Modeling commands
Existing modeling commands now run continuously until the Esc key is pressed. Toggle this ON/OFF in [N] Fabrication Settings or [N] MEP Settings.
As an example, see below for a demonstration of Continuous Modeling with the Move Connect command.

Figure 3
Disconnect All
New command to disconnect all of an element's physical connections.

Figure 4
Data Flow - Improvements
- Upgraded the AI model to provide more accurate and palatable responses.
- "Group" added as column during Condition Import for sorting.
- Double-click Condition Group or Scripts to Rename.
- Various performance improvements including faster Condition Import.
- Added "Refresh" Action button to each Condition row or to Refresh all Conditions' Naviate Filter based on the Active View.
- Multi-select delete and toggling of the 'Active' ON/OFF enabled in Conditions tab.
Copy Circuits
- Improved the workflow for copying Panelboards by adding a third click to identify the Host of the copied elements. This change is due to a Revit API change in versions 25 and 26.
- For Panelboards and Electrical Fixtures, the value of Parameter 'Schedule Level' is populated to which Level the element is located.
Set Slope - Improvements

Figure 5
- Command allows option to apply Slope to an element in units of Rise / 12", Degrees, or Percentage values to apply Slope.
- Command also has Project Units option by default, which will inherit Project Units in the Piping Discipline (including Rounding)
Copy Monitor Plus - IFC
Added compatibility with IFC linked files.
Auto Routing - Improvements
- Added compatibility with RFA Round Ducts,
- Last used Angle is now remembered for next run of command, continuous modeling is enabled.
- Enabled Continuous Modeling. Command will loop until user presses Esc.

Figure 6
BOM Options - Improvements
- Path for CSV Exports has been modified to user-specific (based on the Autodesk Account signed into Revit).
- The BOM's Naviate Filter mapping will now update if the Naviate Filter is modified after being set in BOM Options.
Kick 90, Route To, Reroute Around, Reroute Up/Dn - Improvements
Updated UI's to be more consistent with other Naviate commands.
Fixes
- Split and Split w/ Gap
- Resolved an issue with Rectangular and Oval Duct causing an inadvertent rotation.
- Copy Circuits
- Resolved an issue when running the command on Families with more than one connector. Rather than canceling the copy process, Naviate will skip these Families and continue with a notification.
