This release news includes 2023.1.19 and 2024.10.1 and are available on My Symetri -> Applications
Create Assembly
Assemblies are groups of Resource EPDs that users can combine into a construction element.
We cover many types of assemblies:
- Simple items: – Simple item materials refer to single material items such as concrete paving slabs and insulation sheets, which can typically be used inside a Layered Assembly or Composite Assembly.
- Layered Assemblies – Multi-material systems made up of layered components, such as masonry wall systems containing brick, insulation, blockwork, and internal finishes.
- Composite Assemblies – Construction elements made up of combined materials and components, such as reinforced concrete pads or piles.
These assemblies can be applied directly to objects within a user’s Revit model. Instead of assigning materials layer by layer, users can apply a complete assembly directly to a wall, floor, or other object.
Because assemblies are not dependent on Revit’s detailed material modeling, users no longer need to model every individual material layer in Revit. Instead, they can create an Assembly and apply it to a generic wall while still achieving the same embodied carbon calculation accuracy as a highly detailed Revit wall build-up.
Assemblies are also shared across the company, making them accessible to colleagues and reusable across multiple projects.
This is replacing the old Naviate Zero Assemblies.
Technical Differences from Old Assemblies:
- Users no longer need to apply Resource EPDs directly and can instead create placeholder resources representing the material.
- The Assembly data grid now displays the impact of the actual materials used within the Assembly.
- Required fields have been redesigned to be more intuitive and easier to understand.
- Assemblies can now be tagged for improved organization and filtering.
- Assigning quantities to resources is now smoother and more flexible. Users can calculate quantities using geometric inputs or edit quantities directly.
- PACi total and resouce value per sample size is displayed.
- Running a calculation of the an Assembly GWP value is not significantly faster.
Assembly Tags
Organizing your Resource Assemblies just got easier.
You can now create and apply custom tags to Resource Assemblies, making it simpler to group, filter, and manage assemblies across your projects.
Whether you’re working with assemblies like layered masonry walls, reinforced pads, or other construction systems, tags give you a flexible way to organize your library based on your workflow and standards.
Use tags to organize by:
- Project Types
- Assembly Types
- Building Types
- Disciplines
- Custom Categories
- Or any workflow-specific need
Tags help teams quickly find the right assemblies, improve consistency across projects, and create a more scalable assembly library as your database grow
Update Assemblies and Update Resources
Downloading and updating resources in Revit is now significantly faster and more flexible.
Users can now update Assemblies only or Resources only, without needing to re-download every Resource EPD each time. Previously, all Resource EPDs had to be downloaded again before Assemblies could be used, even when only Assembly data had changed.
This new workflow greatly improves performance by reducing download times and minimizing unnecessary updates.
For users who still want a full synchronization, the Update All option remains available.
Resource Type
With the new assemblies we have updated the naming inside of Apply Resources. What was earlier called Multipart are now called Resource Assembly and Resource. The filter inside Apply Resources is now named Resource Type.
Improved OCL Export Experience
The OCL export workflow has been updated to make exporting clearer, more intuitive, and easier to control.
Button titles and tooltips have been improved throughout the export workflow, making it easier to understand the available export options and their behavior.
We have also updated the Export All functionality. Previously, Export All exported all elements in the Revit model. It now exports only the categories selected in your Settings, giving users more control over what is included in the export and helping avoid unnecessary data exports.
Bug fixes and minor improvements
- Check Pre-Compliance now unchecks all area filters.
- Fixed material naming error for assemblies in the excell-export from the calculation window.
- Fixed issue with GWP column not being renamed when using Imperial Units.
- Fixed issue in Calculation when multiple material layers had the same material name.
- Fixed issues in Calculation when editing resources inside Apply Resources and then updating the Calculation Window.
- Fixed issues in Calculation related to Naviate Filters.
- Fixed Inconsistencies between calculations using assemblies and resources, due to rounding of data.
- Fixed errors in calculation when using translated resource names.
- Fixed wrongly spelled languages in settings.
Temporarily Removed Features
We have temporarily removed several features due to improvement or performance needs. They might be added back in a future release.
- AI Near Search has been removed from Apply Resources.
- AI Resource Search has ben removed from Apply Resources.
- AI Companion has been removed from Apply Resources.
- Automatic Unit Overrride has been removed from Apply Resources.
- GWP Score feature has been removed from Apply Resources.
- GWP Score feature has been removed from Manage Assemblies.
- Create Assembly from Calculation window has been removed from Calculation Window.
Improved compatibility with other Revit add-ins
We have made background changes to reduce the risk of conflicts when running Naviate applications alongside other Revit plugins.
Previously, a shared software component (System.Text.Json) could clash with the same component used by other add-ins, in some cases causing Naviate products or other plugins to stop working. We have removed this dependency to lower the risk of such conflicts occurring.
Please note: While this update significantly reduces the likelihood of compatibility issues, it does not eliminate all possible conflicts with third-party plugins. If you experience any issues, please contact our support team.
